How are medicines made? How does a control cabinet work? And how are stage sets several metres high built? The Industry Night promises to provide answers to these and many other questions. After four successful editions, with 20,300 visitors this year, the Industry Night offers on 16 April 2027 another opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the regional working environments, from Basel to Aesch.

Wide range of sectors

Companies from a range of sectors are taking part, from life sciences and energy supply to the food industry. Novartis, Roche and Medartis at Stücki Park are opening their laboratories to the public. At its maintenance depot, IWB will demonstrate how electricity, water, heat and data circulate beneath our feet. Endress+Hauser will offer insights into the world of measurement technology, whilst SBB will provide a glimpse into the logistics centre beneath Basel railway station. Meanwhile, a culinary journey awaits us at the Vito production facility or the Sutter Begg bakery.

Premieres and, for the first time, a shuttle bus to Aesch

Eleven companies are opening their doors for the first time: Telebasel takes us behind the scenes of regional television. ProRheno shows how the region’s wastewater is treated. We get to experience the fascinating world of packaging and floor coverings of all kinds at Winter & Company and Murfloor. Also represented at the Industry Night for the first time are the insurance sector (Helsana) and forensic psychiatry (Clinic for Forensic Medicine, UPK Basel). Boehringer Ingelheim Switzerland at Stücki Park, Primeo Energie and Paul Ullrich are also making their debut. With Sotax and Synopac, Aesch is also featured on the Industry Night map for the first time.

A big thank you to our sponsors

Without the commitment and active support of our sponsors and partners, the Industry Night Regio Basel would not be possible. The Industrienacht Basel Association would like to thank its main sponsor, the Basel Chamber of Commerce, and the sponsors IWB, Roche, Medartis, Endress+Hauser and Stücki Park for their tremendous dedication and excellent cooperation.

Statements

“From laboratories to food production to recording studios: at the Industry Night, my economics pupils get to experience in a single evening just how diverse the regional economy is – and see companies showcasing their unique offerings. This allows the young people to see where science, technology and business are in demand: valuable inspiration for their choice of degree course.”
– Pascale Herrmann, teacher of economics and law, Gymnasium Oberwil

“The night belongs to dreams; the Industry Night Regio Basel brings them down to earth. The event gives young people a hands-on experience of different careers and shows them how dreams can be turned into concrete plans for the future. We have impressive resources for successful vocational training in our region – let’s make the most of them!”
– Mustafa Atici, Member of the Government Council of the Canton of Basel-Stadt and Head of the Department of Education

“The Industry Night Regio Basel brings businesses and the public together – to exchange ideas, gain insights and foster understanding. This unique platform for businesses showcases the diversity and innovative strength of our economy. As the main sponsor, we are thereby promoting dialogue and understanding of entrepreneurial thinking and action.”
– Andreas Meier, Deputy Director of the Basel Chamber of Commerce

“In 2027, the Department of Forensic Medicine will celebrate its 30th anniversary. To mark this occasion, we will be offering an insight into forensic psychiatry. How do individuals come to be ordered to undergo treatment, and what happens to them afterwards? Visitors will learn interesting facts about the intersection of psychiatry and the law, everyday life at the clinic, the various career paths available and our research. We are very much looking forward to presenting our areas of work at the Industry Night.”
– Henning Hachtel, Clinic Director and Chief Physician at the Clinic for Forensic Psychiatry at UPK Basel

“Since 1973, Sotax has been supporting pharmaceutical companies worldwide in the development and quality assurance of medicines. At the Industry Night, we’ll be opening our doors to show how Swiss precision, innovation and modern technologies help to enable safe and effective medicines for people all over the world.”
– Melina Kiewald, Head of People & Culture Transformation, Sotax AG
