Experience traditional crafts first-hand

Companies line this street like pearls on a string. If you walk along Lausenerstrasse during the Industry Night, you can discover seven different working environments in just a few minutes. There’s plenty of hands-on action guaranteed!

At Miru-Clean, you’ll experience a professional cleaning process and get to try out the techniques for yourself straight away on the course. You’ll be put to the test with your practical skills at the two garages along the street: at P. Schweizer, you’ll put your skills to the test in a tyre-changing challenge, whilst at Keigel you’ll paint a vehicle under the motto ‘Pimp my Ride’. Meanwhile, you’ll be making sparks fly at Wahl Glas- und Metallbau. Here, under expert guidance, you’ll weld your very own rose vase. You’ll also need to roll up your sleeves at the Büchi joinery workshop. There, you’ll craft your own piece of work, which you can keep and take home with you.

Formex also knows how to work with wood to great effect. For over 40 years, the company has been designing decorative wood-based materials, which joiners throughout Switzerland use to craft kitchens and furniture. At the Industry Night, you can take a self-guided tour to get a glimpse inside the award-winning workshops and production halls and learn what makes a good surface. At the Lachmatt site, Prescha & Sohn offers you an insight into the craft of automotive upholstery and soft furnishings. Discover in the workshop how seats, boats and operating theatre tables are upholstered to a precise fit. Right next door, Gremper opens the doors to its printing works. Here you’ll learn how beautiful books and high-quality magazines are created.

You can also discover the crafts of brewing and butchery for the first time at the Industry Night Regio Liestal. The brewery Unser Bier will take you on a guided tour and invite you to put your taste buds to the test during a blind tasting. At the Metzgerhuus Stadt und Land in Füllinsdorf, regional livestock are processed under modern, small-scale commercial conditions. During the tour, the team will show you the meat-processing workflow and explain what sets the Metzgerhuus apart (the business will not be operating as usual during the Industry Night). Meanwhile, at the Pizzaofenhaus Di Lello in Sissach, you can discover pizza ovens suitable for any garden.

The Tierkrematorium Region Basel in Füllinsdorf is also opening its doors for the first time. Since 1993, the company has been providing compassionate support to pet owners as they say goodbye to their pets. On the guided tour, you’ll gain an insight into the pet cremation process, from the handover of the pet to the respectful return of the ashes.
